July 4 - Tour Bratislava’s charming Old Town – Michael’s Gate to historic old Town Hall; shop for treasures in this vibrant capital; festive 4th of July party; champagne & fireworks Overnight - Bratislava July 5 - Enjoy Devin Castle situated on an ancient Celtic site high up over the Morava and Danube Rivers - immerse in its pre-Christian Celtic history; on to nearby romantic Vienna, Austria for a guided tour of the Old Town followed by a Viennese dinner and a special classical music concert. Overnight Bratislava July 6 – Travel to charming Banska Bystrica in central Slovakia with its elegantly preserved Old Town square; enjoy a festive ride on an antique train; we’ll hear local tunes and stop for a feast in the forest. Overnight Banska Bystrica (2 night stay) July 7 – Visit the interactive Slovak History Museum, on to famed Detva Folk Festival to see 50 plus craftspeople, a rousing folk dance performance; and sample local specialties at a shepherd’s salas. Then we travel through the mountains to eastern Slovakia to quaint Kezmarok with its famed international crafts fair, see artisans of all kinds at work from weavers to glass blowers; visit glorious 12th century Spis Castle; party in a Rusyn village with music, dance, song and wedding customs! Overnight in the High Tatra Mountains - 2 night stay July 9 - Weather permitting - option for lift in the High Tatra Mts.; visit a sheepskin coat maker & his family and experience Slovak village hospitality; enjoy a raft ride in the gorgeous Pieniny Gorge, be serenaded by Goral tunes at a Picnic Party!
