Fri, July 11 – Meet at Vienna airport, Eurohotel or Bratislava airport. See Bratislava with a local guide to learn the history & legends; time to shop or enjoy the cafes, on to Bratislava Castle for the view from the ramparts. We journey to Banska Bystrica in the heart of Slovakia. Festive welcome party and toasts of Slovakia’s famed wines. Enjoy a night lights walking tour of the historic square ending in an outdoor café in this vibrant venue. (2 nights - Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia)
Sat. July 12 - Tour the historic area and the castle/cathedral just off the square. climb the learning tower for a bird’s eye view. Time to visit the famed Museum of the National Uprising colorfully shaped like a shepherd’s hat with interactive displays of Slovakia’s role in WWII. Afternoon at the colorful Detva Folk Festival with music, song, dance, crafts, foods and our traditional welcome from the fujara players.
Sun., July 13 - Scenic drive through the Middle Carpathians. Wander historic Kezmarok’s streets filled with crafts demonstrations and treasures for sale at the largest International Crafts Festival in Europe, 100 plus exhibitors, folk dancing, local foods and medieval parade. We'll catch our first glimpse of the snow-clad High Tatras in Stary Smokovec. Our celebration continues at an outdoor cookout with folk music.

Mon., July 14 –Everyone loves walled Levoca with its historic buildings, Master Paul’s statues and old legends. We’ll tour grand St Jakub’s Cathedral with a dozen carved & painted altars from the late 1500s. Explore Spis Castle, the largest Gothic ruin in Europe or a mini-hike to see butterflies and mountain flowers. On to UNESCO treasure Zehra church from the 13th century with its vibrant frescoes and stroll the streets of historic Spisske Podhradie. Opportunity to buy authentically dressed dolls from a famed maker. Dance with vibrant villagers at a celebration of wedding customs.
Tues., July 15 – Travel into remote and beautiful Zamagurie to Stara Lubovna’s outdoor museum – the homes depict birth, wedding and death customs as well as Easter, option to tour castle. Take a unique raft ride on the scenic Dunajec River in Pieniny National Park & step into Poland. Raft drivers tell legends, topped off with a Goral picnic with lively local tunes.
Wed. July 16 - Experience a village museum showcasing the daily life of your ancestors and try your hand at an ancient craft. See Presov with its historic square, beautiful cathedrals, folk museum and Orthodox Synagogue. Tour beautifully restored Kosice's old town with a local guide and marvel at St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral, the famed Singing Fountain and more. A bit of free time to explore the grounds and indoor pool of our hotel followed by an elegant dinner in the grand dining room.

Thurs., July 17 - To Bardejov, the Pearl of Saris, Slovakia’s other walled town & a UNESCO Treasure. Tour the historic square and magnificent St. Egidius Church. Enjoy the unique icon museum. Find out why the statue atop town hall moons the mayor's office. Visit an onion-domed wooden Rusyn church with icons and stories galore.
Fri., July 18 - Drive through spectacular scenery. We head west and follow the mighty Vah River on a castle-studded ride. Visit the stunning Nativity Scene that focuses on Slovak village life and the country’s history and then charming Cicmany to visit the museum of village life and stroll picturesque lanes. We’ll party in Krakovany where the folk group performs village wedding customs especially for us. (2 nights in Modra, Slovakia’s Wine Capital, southwestern Slovakia)
Sat., July 19 – Tour a medieval treasure Cerveny Kamen Castle with its fascinating legends and museum of furniture, even a golden bed! On to an ancient mill that is a museum of naďve folk art and showcases the wooden mill wheels. Explore the Royal Carpathian Wine Road, tour vineyards and enjoy wine tasting as we learn about 700 years of wine culture on these verdant slopes. A festive farewell dinner is a joyful ending to our 80th Treasures Tours celebration!
Sun., July 20 - Do Videnia or Continue on to Prague Add On.
Trip includes hotel rooms with private bathrooms, two substantial meals per day featuring local specialties,
